Title: Designing with erotic life in mind - a new challenge for
human-computer interaction

Abstract: In this talk I argue that IT, in particular in the home, tends
to marginalize erotic aspects of life. The field of interactive
technologies for the home does not take into account how it impacts
conditions for erotic intimacy in the home. I suggest the need for a
counter discourse in HCI and interaction design, and I outline a number
of theoretical and empirical perspectives, which can contribute to
establish erotic life as a new frontier in interaction design as well as
in human-computer interaction in general. A possible way forward is
technologies that embed therapeutic strategies, this approach will be
briefly discussed together with the methodical challenges involved when
doing participatory design and user driven innovation in such a perspective.
